Skills Required:
We are currently seeking team players who are detail-oriented, positive, self-starters, eager to grow and learn. Please review qualifications carefully prior to applying, experience is required for these positions.
- LVT/CVT preferred but will consider skilled assistants with 2+ years of ER/Urgent Care experience
- All aspects of animal nursing care (lab sample collection, surgical prep/monitoring/post-operative care, injections (all routes of administration), IV catheter placement, radiology positioning, phone and in-person triage, accurate medical record-keeping, ability to follow direction with accuracy, familiarity with common veterinary medication and dosing calculations, running blood samples, microscopic evaluation, patient rounds.
- Ability to work well under pressure and multi-task efficiently
- Good communication skills and works well in a team environment.
- This position includes overnights, weekends, and holidays.
Essential Job Functions:
- Triage (verbal and written)
- Client education (verbal and written)
- ezyVet Software experience helpful
- Customer service - phone etiquette, email, and in-person communication must be professional and knowledgeable
- Drug calculations/administration
- Anesthesia; induction, monitoring, pre, and post-operative pain control administration, assisting in surgery
- IV catheter placement
- Phlebotomy, cystocentesis, other laboratory collection methods, and prep.
- Processing in-hour lab samples: Bloodwork, Urinalysis, Cytology
- Knowledge of basic emergency procedures
- Medical record-keeping and invoicing
- Cash handling, Point of Sale transactions, obtaining deposits for treatment
- Intake and Discharge
- Oversee hospitalized patients and recognize changes in status/condition
- Ability to communicate well with a team and provide status updates to Doctors
- Follow directions both verbal and written.
- Basic understanding of treatment/flow sheets
- All aspects of veterinary nursing care not previously mentioned
- Other tasks as assigned by DVM and/or Hospital Administrator
- Shifts will include overnights, weekends, and holidays.
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or GED.
- LVT/CVT preferred.
- Emergency experience preferred.
