East Valley Animal Clinic is looking for a full or part time Certified Veterinary Technician to join our AAHA accredited 5 doctor practice in the southern suburbs. Our clinic continues to grow after 25 years, and we are now seeing the children of our clients with their pets.  We offer competitive compensation along with a comprehensive benefits package, PTO for full time employees, 401K, continuing education, pet care discounts and more. 4-day work week and every other Saturday.  Our staff stays with us- we have staff who have been with us for 15-20 years and we have fun with each other outside of work. POSITION SUMMARY:
This position will utilize the skills you have in the areas of anesthesia, dentistry, laboratory, client communication and education every day. The duties and responsibilities described are not a comprehensive list and may vary.


WHAT YOU'LL DO (Essential Functions):

  • Foster a culture built on our values: Respect, Learning, Do the Right Thing, WOW Service, and Fun
  • Maintain medical records
  • Assist in exam room
  • Surgery: Anesthesia, Monitoring anesthesia
  • Dental: radiographs, dental prophylaxis
  • Client education
  • Animal Husbandry
  • Front desk responsibilities: Answering phone, checking clients in and out of appointments

 

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR (Essential Qualifications):

Education:

  • Associate's Degree from a two-year veterinary technology program with accreditation from the American Veterinary Medicine Association (AVMA).

Professional Licenses/Certifications:

  • Current unexpired license from the Minnesota Veterinary Medical Association 
  • Successful completion of the Veterinary Technician National Examination
  • State-recognized veterinary technician certification (CVT, LVT, or RVT) with credential in good standing required

Experience:

  • None

Knowledge, Skills and Ability:
• Knowledge of veterinary hospital practices and procedures
• Strong organizational and time management skills including managing multiple priorities
• Ability to handle and maintain sensitive and confidential information with discretion
• Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
• Interact with a variety of clients and employees in a professional, caring, compassionate, and tactful manner
• Basic knowledge of the generic and brand names, common uses, and side effects of drugs utilized in a veterinary practice
• Basic knowledge of medical equipment and terminology
• Basic written, verbal, and active listening communication skills with a customer-oriented approach
• Basic analytical, critical thinking, judgement, and problem-solving skills
